Check It Out – “Walking Dead” TV Series In The Works

It looks like AMC is upping the ante in their quest for supreme dominance in all things TV drama related, having just green-lit the pilot for an adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s acclaimed series The Walking Dead. The notion of adapting a compelling and well crafted long running comic series into a television series of the same caliber was a good one when talk of a Preacher series was buzzing about a few years back. Inexplicably, Warner Bros. subsidiaries HBO and DC/Vertigo could never get their shit together on that or any other related idea, leaving the creative ground to be broken by AMC and Image comics. The pilot will be written and directed by Frank Darabont, whose previous projects include Stephen King’s The Mist and the absolutely flawless Shawshank Redemption.

I’m sure King fan’s are already crossing their fingers in the hopes that this series will be a success which leads directly to a lavish and expansive adaptation of King’s opus The Dark Tower – I know I am.
