Where does the time go? I guess that’s the question of the day. As I sit here in front of my computer sipping my cup of coffee and contemplating what to write the new installment of my column about, that phrase just keeps repeating over and over again in my head.
I mean after all, the inaugural C2E2 (Comic Convention and Entertainment Expo) in Chicago just wrapped up this past weekend. I had every intention of attending, however some writing work with a tight deadline fell in my lap and well I had to pass on checking out the new show, catching up with old friends and colleagues and making new friends and memories. Like everyone says there’s always next time. I guess that’s what happens when life gets in the way of even the best laid plans.
Time really does have a way of getting away from us and before we know it we have no idea of where it went or what we even did with it. I mean honestly it happens to all of us. Stop and think for a second when was the last time you talked to your parents, or watched the sun rise and/or set, or went out to dinner with your significant other or your friends or even just put everything else on hold and did something for yourself.
I mean imagine if in real life we could use that comic book staple of the re-imagined storyline. The What If? within our real lives. You could go back over all the important and even not so important events in your life and see how they played out with a different ending. You could for all intents and purposes get that time back. Couldn’t you? Albeit with a totally new outcome, but isn’t that exciting?
I guess I’d go back and imagine What If? I didn’t take that writing work that fell in my lap at the last second and instead had kept my plans to attend C2E2. The possibilities are truly endless.
Really, just take a second and ask yourself where does the time go, before you find yourself asking What If?
Now onto other matters, I of course am way behind on my weekly comic book reading. Seriously the stack is getting dangerously out of hand. If I was ever so unfortunate as to have it fall over on me I would be trapped, but I wouldn’t be bored. I’d have enough reading to keep me busy. Truthfully though, once again that old mistress time becomes a factor in getting everything else done. I have made a promise to myself though that soon; I will catch up on all of this stuff.
Well, I guess that’s all for now. I have to start thinking about next month’s column. Not exactly sure what it will be about right now, but that’s half the fun…not knowing. It’s exciting, the mystery of it, and it’s what brings each and every one of you back each month to read the column! I can promise that it will be entertaining; maybe make you stop and think for a minute, it might even upset some people, perhaps make some laugh and most likely hopefully spark a debate.
