once more into the ongoing series of Shane Woodies and his video camera…
Shane takes a look at why people hate Megatokyo
About the Author
Shane “Inkmonkey” Woodis started making webcomics in 2003, and didn’t stop until he graduated from the Joe Kubert School in 2008. Since then he’s worked as a freelance artist, and as a moderator for the DrunkDuck website. He has also contributed to two of their print collections. His best known work is Elijah and Azuu, an action/comedy series that ran on DrunkDuck for 5 years and over 1300 pages.
I’m still enjoying the series, but mostly in book format. It certainly has changed a tremendous amount, and I think more so since well after “Largo” left the series, but for the most part I like reading the compilations.
It’s like Strangers In Paradise or the old Crossgen series of comics for me – if you stick to issue by issue (or page by page here), it is boring and largely uneventful. If you get a compilation in hand (the manga book) and read it in a sitting or two, it’s more enjoyable.
I can’t disagree with most of your analysis, however. I do think that one reason for it’s success is it isn’t just an ego trip for the creator, but for the American “otaku” (and yes I realize that it’s a misuse of the term, but I still think apt) – it’s wish-fulfillment for many anime/manga fans to do what Large and Piro did.

Loving these, Shane, and you need to do more of them ;D “Deeganesque?” Nice. I wish I had a reason to use that, now. XD
