Check It Out – What’s Up With Dragon Age?

Is it EA?  Is it a shift in decision makers?  Is it just the changing market?

Whatever the reason (or reasons), BioWare seems to be making some questionable decisions lately.  Mass Effect 2′s redesign (spoiler – I liked the game and approved, almost entirely, of the changes) ruffled many feathers.  And there’s this whole “multiplayer” aspect ot Mass Effect 3 (spoiler – I’m leaning strongly in the “dislike” side for this.)  The cool Dragon Age Journeys flash game (spoiler – I loved it) gets trashed and bashed into a Facebook app game Dragon Age Legends (spoiler – disappointed overall), and then we see the “dumbing down” that is Dragon Age 2 (spoiler – very, very disappointed was I.)  We also got the Redemption webisode series (spoiler – I loved it, and I’ll stop with the “spoilers” now.)

A scouring of the internets (or an active, observent membership at the BioWare Social Network) has revealed a video about the upcoming Dragon Age anime, Dawn of the Seeker.

This one seems deeply ingrained in the EA business model… other “big” (pushed hard by EA at least) games like Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno received anime treatments as well.  I withhold judgment… partially because I actually enjoyed the previously mentioned animes.

This next is completely in the rumor category, but it’s not hard to believe it’s in the realm of possibilty – multiplayer Dragon Age 3.

Apparently, dragons will also be playable in Dragon Age multiplayer, giving players the chance to go head-to-head with foes in fire-breathing, swooping-through-the-air dragon form. (…) The multiplayer is supposedly an arena-based affair and features player versus environment (PvE) elements as well as player versus player (PvP), as well as humans fighting dragons.

How true is this rumor?  My hope -it is completely unfounded hogwash.  My fear – it’s true and will prove how much the “taking the best of DA:O and DA2″ line is just so much more false hype from BioWare.
