Shiny New Reunion!
A little more love for Firefly -
To celebrate the cult-favorite sci-fi drama’s 10th anniversary, Science Channel is shooting a new one-hour special chronicling the Firefly cast reunion at Comic-Con this week.
The special — titled Browncoats Unite — will include footage from Friday’s reunion panel, featuring several members of the original team including star Nathan Fillion and creator Joss Whedon. Plus, the cast is shooting an in-depth behind-the-scenes roundtable interview that will dive deeper into burning fan questions about the beloved series. Both the panel and the roundtable will be moderated by Entertainment Weekly‘s own Jeff Jensen.

Mr. Whedon probably has the money to back a Kickstarter co-funded Firefly series if he wanted to, a la Space Command, now after the Avengers success. Fans want it. Question is – would enough of the cast want to return? And would lightning strike twice?
Wasteland to be bundled with Wasteland 2!

“The #1 request we had during our Kickstarter campaign was to have the ability to play the first game. Fortunately EA has continued to support us on this project and has granted us the ability to bring the original to the players,” said Brian Fargo, of inXile Entertainment. “It is great to be able to make Wasteland available for those feeling nostalgic or who want to experience it for the first time. It certainly will not be a pre-requisite to understand Wasteland 2, but it adds some extra flavor if you did play the prequel.”

We cannot release it prior to Wasteland 2. It is to be bundled as part of Wasteland 2. I’m still happy to be able to get it in there at all.
I can’t give specific details but the terms were very fair. I can tell you that most publishers would not have helped at ALL.
It’s too early for me to know all the detailed issues with including the original Wasteland.
Fear not my worriers… The Wasteland 1 inclusion has no conditions related to Origin.

Jim Yoho is the owner of In Genre, Wausau Comics, and JAY Entertainment and he maintains the site as well as adding the occasional article or review of his own. He often goes by Merin online, from way back in the BBS days of dial-up modems even.
